Cooperative Games
Players coordinate their actions to achieve a common win condition or goal. Most cooperative-style games have all players winning or losing together, though some make differentiation for scoring points or weighing player contributions.
Some Cooperative Games have a traitor element - meaning that these players actually have ulterior win conditions that often conflict with the larger group's cooperative efforts. Traitors are normally secret roles.
Many cooperative-style games can be played as a single player. This is possible because the core concept of these games is that players are all working together to begin with - therefore if a single person wanted, they could play ALL roles!
